About the event
The Wareham Oyster Festival returns to downtown Wareham on May 26 for the sixth annual celebration of music, crafts, food, and of course some of the best shellfish on the east coast.
The free festival runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Main Street, which will be closed to vehicular traffic during that time.
Some 20 food vendors will offer a variety of fare, with the focus on shellfish. Attendees can try oysters from three different farms in Wareham and from throughout Cape Cod, Buzzards Bay, and Rhode Island.
There will be plenty of non-seafood options, from burgers and dogs to homemade cookies and ice cream specialties. Mayflower Brewing of Plymouth, a major sponsor, will be pouring beer, and Proud Pour, a Sauvignon Blanc whose proceeds benefit oyster restoration, will also be available to those 21 and over.
More than 50 craft vendors and artisans will be on hand with a variety of handcrafted items and other goods.
